She settled in South Australia in 1839 and actively participated in the suffragette movement, advocating for women's rights. Spence's notable works include "Clara Morison: A Tale of South Australia During the Gold Fever" and "Mr. Hogarth's Will."

3. Mary Lee - Born on June 19, 1821, in England, Mary Lee was a prominent suffragette and social reformer who played a pivotal role in campaigning for women's rights in South Australia.
